Sabrina's Internship at RICHES

           This week, working on the internship at RICHES, I gathered information on Supreme Court cases. I have been discussing further ideas with not just the Bending Towards Justice team, but also with Dr. Gordon, who I am working with on this specific portion of the project. I had an idea to use a map and timeline to show the origins of each of the Supreme Court cases that supported or did not support voter suppression and when the case occurred. Each of these locations would have pin drops on a map of the United States, when clicking the pin drop it would pull up a brief bio of the case and its decision and perhaps the justices that served on the case. This would allow for this portion of the exhibit to be both interactive and not overly word heavy. It could also be possible to put photos in the information bubbles.             This week, working on my internship at RICHES, we made headway with the email issues with the teams program. Kirk was able to invite me to have access to the different folders, however, I cannot make changes or add anything. So I will have to send any documents that need to be uploaded to teams once they have been approved by Dr. Gordon to either Geoff or Dr. Gordon, who will have to upload the document to teams on my behalf. That being said, I am very excited to be able to work on the Bending Towards Justice Project now and help out Dr. Gordon with the legal history portion of the project and looking at voting rights and voter suppression. I met with Dr. Gordon Wednesday for my meeting to talking about my independent studies course, which she is the instructor for. During this meeting, she told me to look up Supreme Court cases on this topic and their decisions. She also told me that there was an existing list of a few cases that had been typed...

This week working at RICHES, I have continued to work on my metadata. During our weekly meeting this week, when it was my turn to discuss what I had been working on, I said I had just been working on my metadata. This is because I still do not have access to teams and programs that I need to be able to work on the digital exhibit and a large portion of the internship. I have been extremely excited about this exhibit and been very upset because I have not been able to do any work on it since I am unable to access the necessary program with a great deal of the information I needed to be able to work on the exhibit. I was instructed to submit a ticket to IT last Friday during our Bending Towards Justice meeting. I never heard back from IT. I told this to everyone in our meeting on RICHES meeting on Tuesday.            This week working on my internship with RICHES, I contacted Rebecca to learn more about the piece of metadata that I had decided to work on to get more information about it. Previously, I was trying to look at other documents on the RICHES website for research for the metadata, but it was down because it was not currently working. However, I am thankful that I was able to get in contact with Rebecca. I will be finishing up the metadata this weekend and hopefully will have it nearly finished at the beginning of next week. Today, we also had our meeting to discuss the project we are all working on, called Bending Towards Justice. I am so excited about this project. There have been a few issues. Mainly since I do not have a staff or faculty email address, I cannot log into teams.
